Going for a swim
Project Goblin » Devlog
Hi! It's been a few days since the last update, so here's a new one this time focused on water.
Swimming has been implemented, allowing the player to cross bodies of water and exit them either by climbing a slope or grabbing a near ledge. Player's are also able to dive as well, with the remaining stamina acting as your oxygen.
To make all this more cool looking, a few effects and details have been implemented as well:
- Water ripples, both when swimming or walking through a body of water.
- A water splash effect appears when diving or emerging, as well as when entering the body of water with enough vertical velocity.
- Little bubbles come out of the player wheneber he's underwater.
- The lamp turns off when entering the body of water, and you aren't able to turn it on again until the lamp's out of the water.
- The water shader has been reworked to look better while also being a little better optimized.
Check out the video to see how it all looks in motion:
And finally, some other stuff I've worked on:
- Added a sway animation to the lamp when the player's walking or running. Avoids clipping and looks nice.
- Added a roll animation when the players lands after a long jump.
With this, I'm a bit closer to the point where I can focus less on mechanics and more on making content for a demo.
Thanks for reading this. See you soon!
